Why criminals should be pnished instead of rehabilitated

This exercise began with taking a stance on any topic and making an argument. I chose why non-violent criminals should be rehabilitated instead of kept in the prison system. The next part of the project which I’m on has to do with taking the other side of the argument. The guidelines for this project are open ended as long as I use 5 sources and write two pages. Because it’s a bit hard to take the complete opposite side, my teacher allowed me to re-frame the original stance into something along the lines of, “Why criminals, in general, should be locked” up as it’s better to have control over them than let them be in society. I’ll attach my original essay from part 1. The assignment was to just take a stance an argue it. Now on this part I must take the opposite side and argue it and I need help.
