Answer all of the following questions with short essay responses. There is no maximum word count for your responses, although you should aim to write at least 10 sentences for each. But the grading of your response will be more about the completion of your answers. See rubric on next page. Remember that you must properly cite your sources with in-text citations. - Which perspective of first language acquisition [behaviorist, nativist, and functional approaches] do you feel best describes the process and why? Define each perspective first [in your own words] and demonstrate that you understand the meaning. Then, describe your choice, and provide evidence to support your choice.
- Is it always better to learn a language when you are younger? Why and/or why not? Explain your answers based on research and facts that you learned in the class and course material.
- Compare the behavioral, cognitive and social constructivist perspectives of human learning. Define each first [in your own words] and demonstrate that you understand the meaning. Then, describe which you believe best describes human learning. Provide evidence to support your choice.
- How has this course impacted the way you understand language learning and how you plan to teach ESL? Refer to at least 3 concepts from the course and provide specific examples and explanations of each.
