I would like for the writer to follow the instructions below and do the paper.
Choose from one of the two prompts. Try to write at least 2 double spaced pages, as usual:
Try This 4.13 — Try to write this more as a story than an essay. Can you SHOW us what you or the person being described learned instead of telling us directly? I highly recommend listening to the whole episode of This American Life as inspiration.
Try this 4.16 — A monologue is a speech given by one person alone on a stage. It is not a story that you expect someone to read silently to themselves. A monologue is meant to be staged with an actor dressed in a costume, playing the role. Think about how this monologue would look and what kinds of things an actor would do when speaking each line that you write. The trick here is the very end of the directions: “Make us sympathize.” We don’t have to LOVE this character, but you have to try to make us understand him/her.
