2. Both historically and in today’s world, there are issues of inequality and lack of representation, including in the field of psychology. It is important to have diverse (e.g., with respect to age, race, ethnicity, culture, gender, socio-economic status, disability, and sexual orientation) researchers (those who conduct the studies) AND diverse participants in studies (those studied in research).
Assignment:
Now imagine the following scenario:
A research study about gender and group dynamics is being conducted. The researchers are three older Caucasian heterosexual men. The participants are college-aged freshmen at a wealthy mid-western American university.
Address the following in your assignment (300-400 words):
In what ways might the lack of diversity amongst those studied (participants) and those conducting the study (researchers) affect and/or limit the findings in this fictional scenario? Also, how might you address this? Be specific in your answers and make sure to address both researchers and participants for this fictional scenario.
