Find a topic which is something you’d be curious to learn more of but that you also have kind of an idea of.
Then, go on the internet, spend 2h just consuming ottoman content. The where? The why? The what? The how? The who? Will come later. But first, think of general culture and have a sense of it.
Once you’ve done this exercise.
You write a question, and a paragraph of 5 lines which describes an explanation and which contextualise your ideas.
Then you go on JSTOR, search content that hits those keys words. [[Ottoman Empire] and [Silk road]]
Find some interesting reading, take the bibliography.
Now you have to grind.
Lay your arguments down, why is it the way it is? Why we understand the situation in this particular way? Is there an alternative explanation? How plausible is it?

Think of a conclusion. A way to sum things up. Are you going this way? Why? How? Any cool idea you have in mind? Challenges you think you’d have with the sources?
Don’t forget to state a hypothesis, or a research question. Why did Germany lost the second word war? OR, better, Why were the extended supply lines a major component in Germany’s fall?
