Part 1 – Written Text
- Write a media-style text about a health-related issue that might be included in an in-company magazine. Topics could include:
- Eating habits (e.g. junk food, eating disorders)
- Exercise habits (e.g. sedentary lifestyles, over exercise)
- Lifestyle habits (e.g. lack of sleep, being alone)
- Use 5 clear paragraphs that includes the following
- Nut graph that summarizes the 5 Ws.
- Definition & scope (E.g. How many people are affected?) of the issue
- Causes
- Effects and potential problems
- Solutions &future
- Write about 300 words (+/-10%)
- Include a relevant headline for the article.
- Use at least 2 external sources for any facts and numbers.
- Provide a list of references at the end of the text, using APA format.
Part 2 – Language Analysis
- Analyse the text that you wrote and identify 10 noun phrases that you used.
- List them and bold the main noun in each phrase.
- Label the different parts of each phrase.
Some examples:
1) a major problem (article + adjective + noun) 2) this alarming healthtrend (determiner + adjective + compound noun) 3) many modern food products(quantifier + adjective + compound noun)

- Presentation / Format
- Include your personal details and assignment details at the top of the first page or as a cover page.
- Start with a heading that will attract the reader’s attention and summarises your best attribute.
- Use line spacing of 1.5 for main body of the text.
- Write 5 paragraphs.
- Write between about 300 words (10% either way is fine).
- After Part 2, include a References section that lists external sources (e.g. websites) that you have referred to in Part 1
- SafeAssign will be used to identify plagiarism, so make sure you also use in-text citations for any facts, numbers, quotes of information taken from external sources.

- This assignment is worth 15% of your overall grade.
