Computer Purchase Proposal
Different computers have different capabilities. Choosing of the particular computer to purchase depends on various factors such as the task for which it is to be applied, allowance of upgrade, presence of additional features and factors such as memory and operating systems to be used. I intend to buy a personal computer that will allow me to meet, at a minimum, the tasks discussed in the following paragraph.
The computer should allow running of designing software such as Computer Aided Design software and allow program multitasking without affecting the system clock efficiency or making it hang and also high system speed. The computer should also have a good battery life to enable me to use it anywhere especially when studying outdoor. I intend to store some significant amount of data and information such as videos, document, and pictures. Therefore, the computer should have relatively sufficient secondary memory storage. Webcam capabilities are also of the essence as I plan to undertake extra classes online. Both cable and wireless network connection capabilities are also pertinent in my choice of the computer as I will often have to use these features to connect to the internet especially when doing research.
Analysis
To ensure that I made the right choice of computer, I visited Amazon online store and FRYS.COM. I also reviewed an article by Ngo. After the review, I had two computer systems to choose from: Acer Aspire V17 Nitro and HP Envy 17. Initially, I visited Amazon online store where I had a choose the two computer systems as they both meet my minimum requirements and were within my prospected budget. The price for the HP was $1,149 while for the Acer was $1,155 with free shipping.
Later I decided to perform due diligence on the two products whereby I visited FRYS.COM shop at San Jose. The attendants informed me that the two products are the same in functionality and speed. This information was informative as it made my decision-making process easy until I researched on the two products online.
During my online research, I came across Ngo’s article in which he performs a comprehensive evaluation of Acer Aspire V17 Nitro, HP Envy 17 and Asus N751. Ngo’s article was the most informative source due to the comprehensive analysis of the various aspects. In my consideration of the source of information, I would consider the ability to perform an analysis of the various capabilities of the two products. Ngo’s article had done such breakdown of the various factors of consideration making it be the most informative source due to the cumulative approach in making the final decision.
Recommendation
Initially during my visit at FRYS.COM, one of the attendants said that “Acer has a very poor battery life. Often, it would have only a four hours battery life as compared to HP which can go up to seven hours.” This information implied that despite the two product’s functionality being the same, HP had an upper hand. However, an analysis of by Ngo implied a contrary decision in which case Acer was better than HP.
Upon conducting an evaluation of the two products, consider the comparison spreadsheet, it appeared Acer was more suitable depending on my tasks. I believe the four-hour battery life will be sufficient as I do not intend to use the computer for very long hours without connection to power supply.
Summary
Considering the above analysis, the best computer to purchase will be Acer Aspire V17 Nitro. This computer is more appropriate than HP Envy due to its high processing speed and its ability to efficiently support multimedia use which is a crucial area of personal interest. The computer is also easy for me to maintain as compared to HP, which is unfriendly concerning user maintenance.
Therefore, I intend to buy Acer Aspire V17 Nitro Black Edition VN7-792G-797V, especially due to the high graphic quality that would be very crucial in my designing tasks. It is also worth noting that the computer is also better compared to the HP counterpart considering gaming capabilities and features. The Acer Aspire V17 Nitro is hence the ideal computer to meet my current needs. The cost of the proposed system is as illustrated in the table below.
