Review the notable designers that you’ve learned about up to this point in the course. Select any two designers—from any single era—and compare and contrast the artists, and/or their styles. For instance, you could consider Chapter 8, An Epoch of Typographic Genius as your era, and compare and contrast the work of Giambattista Bodoni and Franços Didot. You might look to Art Nouveau—comparing and contrasting the work of Aubrey Beardsley with Jules Chéret. …You choose the era —choose one chapter in the book— and then select the two designers that you want to compare and contrast from that chapter.
The paper will be 2-3 pages in length, [MLA Style Guide Standards]. The paper will define your own thoughts and opinions showing your critical thinking* skills. Identify any references to history but this is not the typical research paper. The paper is about your thoughts and observations—concluding with your opinion. Imagery discussed in the paper must be referenced [fig.1] [fig.2]… in the body copy with imagery at the conclusion. Sample imagery is not included in the required page count.
